Marymount Manhattan College Griffin Gear Privacy Policy

Marymount Manhattan College's Griffin Gear was created in 2009, as a result of a student initiative to create more school spirit on campus. The Griffin Gear kiosk is located in the 3rd floor Commons of the Main Building (221 East 71st Street, New York, NY 10021).

Griffin Gear carries all of your college apparel needs, including pullover hoodies, t-shirts, totes, hats, sweatpants, school supplies and much more.

 

This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) addresses our collection, use and disclosure of information collected via our website located at mmcapparel.mmm.edu (“Site”). It applies only to information collected through the Site and not to information collected offline.

Your Consent/Terms and Conditions

By using our Site, you consent to this Policy.  This Policy is incorporated into our
Terms and Conditions, an agreement between you and us that establishes the rules of the road, disclaimers, and limitations of liability when you visit our Site.

What Types of Information Do We Collect and Why?

 

·         We collect information from you when you register or create an account on the site, place an order, enter a contest or sweepstakes, respond to a survey or communication such as e-mail, or otherwise communicate with us.

·         When ordering products on our Site or registering an account on our Site, we may ask you for your name, e-mail address, mailing address, phone number, credit card information and other information. You may, however, visit our site anonymously if you do not purchase anything or register an account on the site.

·         We also collect information about gift recipients so that we can fulfill the gift purchase. The information we collect about gift recipients is not used for marketing purposes, but we do store information about a gift recipient if that individual decides to create an account on the Site.

·         Like many websites, our Site uses "cookies" and other automated tools to make our Site run more smoothly, improve your online experience and gather information about visits to our Site. Please refer to the "How We Use Cookies and Other Automated Tools" section below for more information.


How Do We Use Your Information?

We may use information about you when you register or create an account on the Site, purchase products, enter a contest or sweepstakes, respond to a survey or marketing communication, surf the Site, or use certain other Site features. We use such information for various purposes, such as:

·         to personalize your Site experience and to allow us to deliver the type of content and product offerings in which you are most interested.

o    for example, if you choose to create an account on the Site, cookies may be combined with personal information;

·         to allow us to respond to your customer service requests or questions;

·         to process your transactions as quickly as possible;

·         to administer a contest, sweepstakes, promotion, survey or anything else we might offer on the Site;

·         if you have opted-in to receive our e-mail newsletter, we may send you periodic e-mails. (If you have not opted-in to receive e-mail newsletters, you will not receive these e-mails).

o    if you decide you no longer wish to receive promotional e-mail from us, please refer to the "How can you opt-out, remove or modify information you have provided to us?" section below. 

o    those who register on the Site or opt to receive certain content such as “members-only” content will be given a choice whether they would like to be on our e-mail marketing list and receive e-mail communications from us containing promotions and coupons.

o    Please note that even if you opt-out of receiving marketing-related emails from us, you may still receive emails from us related to your transactions or purchases, customer service issues and technical support.

 

How Do We Protect Personal Information Received from Site Visitors?

We implement a variety of measures to secure your personal information. We store personal information in secured systems and limit access to it to those personnel with   a business need for such access. These personnel are required to keep the information confidential.
When you place orders, create an account or transmit payment information, we offer the use of a secure server. The payment card information you supply is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology and then transmitted to and stored securely by our payment processor.

 

Please keep in mind that in today’s world, no information transmitted or stored electronically can be guaranteed 100% secure. We comply with industry data security standards which greatly reduces the risk that payment card information could end up in the wrong hands, but we simply cannot guarantee 100% security.

How We Use "Cookies" and Other Automated Tools

Cookies are small files that a website or third party transfers to your computer's hard drive through your device’s Internet browser. Cookies enable the website's or third party's systems to recognize your device’s browser and to capture and remember certain information.

 

We use cookies and similar automated tools for various purposes, such as:

 

·         to help us (and you) remember and process the items in your online shopping cart;

·         to help us understand your preferences based on previous or current Site activity, which enables us to provide you with relevant content; and

o    to help us compile aggregate data about Site traffic and interaction with the Site so that we can offer better site experiences and tools in the future.

If you turn cookies off, though, just be aware that your device won't have access to many features that make your visits to our Site more efficient and some of our services will not function properly. However, you can still place orders over the telephone by contacting Customer Service or visiting the school store kiosk located at 221 East 71st Street, New York, NY 10021 – Main Building, 3rd Floor, The Commons.


Do We Disclose Personal Information Received from Site Visitors to Others?

Except as described below, we do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to third parties your personal information unless we provide you with advance notice. The term "third parties" does not include employees (including temporary employees) and contractors working for Marymount Manhattan College.

 

Our website hosting partners and other service providers who assist us in operating our website, conducting our business, or otherwise servicing you or us may have access to your personal information, but we require them to agree to keep this information confidential. We may also release your information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce our site policies, or protect ours or others' rights, property, or safety.


Non-personal and aggregate information (meaning information that does not identify an individual) may be provided to other parties such as our marketing partners for marketing, advertising, or other purposes.

 

Finally, personal and non-personal information may be shared with third parties (including a successor entity) if our business goes through a merger, acquisition or bankruptcy.

How Can You Opt-Out, Remove or Modify Information You Have Provided to Us?

To modify your e-mail preferences, please visit the "My Account" section on the Site. Please note that due to email production schedules, you may receive marketing or advertising-related emails already in production. even if you opt-out of receiving marketing-related emails from us, you may still receive emails from us related to your transactions or purchases, customer service issues and technical support.


To delete all of your online account information from our databases, sign into the "My Account" section of our site and remove your shipping address(es), billing address(es) & payment information. If you do so, we still may maintain information about an individual sales transaction in order to service that transaction and for record keeping purposes.

Links to Other Websites

We may post links to third party websites, including links to social media sites, on our Site. These websites have separate and independent privacy policies. We therefore have no responsibility or liability for the content and activities of these websites. Nonetheless, we want to protect the integrity of our Site and we welcome any feedback about these linked sites (including if a specific link does not work).

Changes to this Policy

If we decide to change this Policy, we will post those changes on this page. Material (meaning important) changes to the ways in which we handle personal information will apply only to personal information collected after the date of the change.
